Yes, I am successfully using the "--sample-offset X" parameter for all of 
my drives, i.e. comparing rips yields the same md5 sums for all of them.

The value "X" equals the drive offset, I got mine from
  http://www.accuraterip.com/driveoffsets.htm  (large page/table).

As a bonus, with the correct offset set up, cdparanoia rips can be 
verified with AccurateRip checksums, if they are available.
