sorry to be off topic here.  Bill, I'm interested to know what interesting
things you do with little computers?  I tried to visit www.tmr.com but

  I'm using RH7.3, and Athlon, and VIA, and don't have the problem. So I
think there's some underlying cause here. But your solution works to fix
the problem, even if it's specific to this hardware rather than RH.

  With a kernel having ide-cd as a module you can have it both ways, so id
you rmmod ide-scsi and insert ide-cd you can use ATAPI, and for burning
substitute ide-scsi for ide-cd.
