Hi, and thanks for a cool program!

Can you tell me if the following is a local problem with my system or
if it has something to do with cdparanoia?

When I run cdparanoia my /var/log/messages immediately fills up with
messages like

Feb 7 18:27:32 snorre kernel: SCSI error: host 0 id 4 lun 0 return code = 2603007f
Feb 7 18:27:32 snorre kernel: ^ISense class 0, sense error 0, extended sense 0
Feb 7 18:27:32 snorre kernel: VFS: Disk change detected on device sr(11,0)
Feb 7 18:27:32 snorre kernel: sym53c895-0-<4,0>: sync msgout: 1-3-1-c-1f.
Feb 7 18:27:32 snorre kernel: sym53c895-0-<4,0>: sync msg in: 1-3-1-c-f.
Feb 7 18:27:32 snorre kernel: sym53c895-0-<4,0>: sync: per=12 scntl3=0xb0 scntl4=0x0 ofs=15 fak=0 chg=0.
Feb 7 18:27:32 snorre kernel: sym53c895-0-<4,0>: sync msgout: 1-3-1-c-1f.
Feb 7 18:27:32 snorre kernel: sym53c895-0-<4,0>: sync msg in: 1-3-1-c-f.
Feb 7 18:27:32 snorre kernel: sym53c895-0-<4,0>: sync: per=12 scntl3=0xb0 scntl4=0x0 ofs=15 fak=0 chg=0.

and the whole system will come to a halt waiting for SCSI time-outs(?)

The output from the cdparanoia process looks like

csi_read error: sector=268898 length=3 retry=2
                 Sense key: 5 ASC: 64 ASCQ: 0
Transport error: Illegal SCSI request (rejected by target)
                 System error: Invalid argument
 (== PROGRESS == [  e eee   e e ee e   e    ee e| 269556 00 ] == :^D * ==)

I do not see this under other CD ROM usage

Hans
