[paranoia] CD Drive keeps spinning up

I'm trying to use CD Paranoia on a Samsung SC-152L drive under Debian
Potato.

No matter which track I ask for, the program just doesn't show any
progress made and the CD drive just keep on spinning up then down then
up as if it's constently retrying.

Is this a known problem because of my CD drive or is there any steps I
can take to diagnose the problem and get a better idea of the cause.
