[paranoia] Annoying blank noise

Have you tried playing the WAV generated by cdparanoia under Windows with the 
software you know works?  I'm fairly sure you have a playback problem, not a 
cdparanoia problem.

If you prefer, you could also send (to me directly, please) a short wav file
demonstrating the problem?  Playing the resulting wav on a known, trusted
system (with working software) will establish the answer.
