[paranoia-dev] Bug, or my problem?

cdparanoia doesn't seem to think my drive is CDDA-capable, even though
cdda2wav doesn't have a problem with it.  

cdparanoia -vsQ returns the following:

Found an accessible SCSI CDROM drive.

Cdparanoia could not find a way to read audio from this drive.

Sometimes the following errors show up in syslog:

I am running Debian/testing with a 2.4.20-pre11 kernel on a PPC.
