In radionomy I have access to nothing but the stream link http://listen.radionomy.com/onstreet The thing is we are leaving radionomy for another stream provider. How to keep appearing in Icecast directory then ? The only thing my provider gave me is this link http://sv2.vestaradio.com/ONSTREET (sometimes it makes wrong redirection though, according to muses radio player team I can use that link too http://149.202.186.135/ONSTREET) Of Course I don't use centova cast but my stream provider's own manager (which certainly runs under centova itself but I can't be sure) Thanks for taking time to answer. You also must set your stream 'public' in the source client. The directory will then pick up the change automatically. In fact it contains only "live" data. So about 20 minutes after you left the old provider it will "forget" you. The new server can then add you again. Hope that helps you. Yes, there are multiple implementations of the server side of the Icecast YP protocol. The latest is based around nodejs and is a complete rewrite we started as part of Google Summer of Code: https://gitlab.xiph.org/xiph/icecast-directory It works reasonably well and is running on http://dir-test.xiph.org - We haven't deployed it permanently into production as we experienced some scaling issues at our >20k streams. The code currently running dir.xiph.org is here: https://svn.xiph.org/branches/dir.xiph.org/ It hasn't aged well, but keeps running well under our significant load. It has some issues with e.g. Unicode or Opus stream detection. For a tiny directory I'd expect the nodejs implementation to work well. Due to the massive speed at which the nodejs community moves it might make sense to rework some bits to use newer dependencies. Patches are welcome and should ideally be discussed here. Giving everyone involved the chance to align their work. Cheers, TBR PS: There is also an even older directory implementation in SVN, written in C. Wouldn't recommend it. I have a problem using a mount with relay and a fallback. The option is not working. I tested two different configurations: _Configuration A:_ ??? ??????? /Stream-096k.mp3 ??????? 2000 ??????? 122880 /Recordings/Record1.mp3 ??????? 1 ??? ??? ??????? xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx ??????? 8080 ??????? /Masterstream-096k.mp3 ??????? /Stream-096k.mp3 ??????? 1 ? ? ?? 1 ??? _Configuration B:_ ??? ??????? /Stream-096k.mp3 ??????? 2000 ??????? 122880 /Stream-Recorded.mp3 ??????? 1 ??? ??? ??????? xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx ??????? 8080 ??????? /Masterstream-096k.mp3 ??????? /Stream-096k.mp3 ??????? 1 ? ? ?? 1 ??? ??? ??????? /Stream-Recorded.mp3 ??????? 2000 ??????? 61440 /Recordings/Record1.mp3 ??????? 1 ? ?? ?? 49152 ??? Problem 1: In both configurations the fallback is played if the relay is offline. But if the stream of the relay is going to online, the listeners are not switched back from the fallback. Even if I wait hours, that does not happen. Currently I still use the older icecast-version 2.3.1 - so pherhals this could be the reason... Problem 2: I also found that (I did not find this option in the dokumentation, why?) does not have any effect, no matter what value I used. Maybe it's because of the older version? (I used limit-rate because the recording is 48k instead of 96k). Kind regards. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Difference? In-Reply-To: References: Message-ID: Hi there, Icecast 2.4 introduced the ? PUT ? HTTP method for sources, which is not supported by Icecast 2.3 (that uses the legacy ? SOURCE ? method). This may explain why your piece of software works with Icecast 2.4 but not with 2.3. You should find relevant lines regarding this issue in your Icecast 2.3 logfiles. > Le 25 juil. 2018 ? 18:00, ScanCaster a ?crit : > > I've got a new piece of software I am trying out, and its presenting an a > couple of issues. > > First, lets tackle something in its setup.. > > It makes a distinction between IceCast 2.3.x connections and 2.4.x > connections. Date: Wed, 25 Jul 2018 16:00:10 +0000 (UTC) I've got a new piece of software I am trying out, and its presenting an a couple of issues. First, lets tackle something in its setup.. It makes a distinction between IceCast 2.3.x connections and 2.4.x connections. I was not aware there was a difference, but not something I look at either....DarkIce and EZStream all connect up to either of my 2.3 or 2.4 servers.. Some of these are probably not the latest and greatest and DarkIce I don't think gets any updates of recent that would cross 2.3 v. 2.4 barriers. This software in question won't connect to the 2.3 one, thats an issue for it, but is there a difference? My various sources right now can be moved around from 2.3 to 2.4 with out issue, except this source. _______________________________________________ Icecast mailing list Icecast at xiph.org http://lists.xiph.org/mailman/listinfo/icecast ____________________________________________________________ Drink This Before Bed, Watch Your Body Fat Melt Like Crazy Celebrity Local http://thirdpartyoffers.netzero.net/TGL3231/5b58ed88e06bf6d885887st03duc -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Also, what are the current security recommendations and best practices for icecast and to a lesser extent ices? Thanks. Dave. For example in my country, if I make music, I hold the copyright on it whether I want to or not. If you release it under a permissive licence, like creative commons, then other people know what they are allowed to do with it. ---- David Mehler wrote ---- >Hello, > >I'm setting up an icecast server and i'd like for it to do something. >I am looking for publically available content or >noncopyrighted-nonpatonted content I can load on to the server and >stream without worrying about copyright violations. > >Also, what are the current security recommendations and best practices >for icecast and to a lesser extent ices? > >Thanks. >Dave. >_______________________________________________ >Icecast mailing list >Icecast at xiph.org >http://lists.xiph.org/mailman/listinfo/icecast -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... I?ve got the actual audio streaming part worked out just fine, but the metadata has me scratching my head a little bit. According to the docs, to update metadata for an mp3 stream you?re supposed to issue an http request like this: http://hostname:port/admin/metadata?mode=updinfo&mount=/station&song=test If I send this request authenticated with the source username/password, I get this, and the metadata is not updated: Mountpoint will not accept URL updates 1 If I issue the same request but authenticate it using the admin password, it works and shows the following: Metadata update successful 1 Lastly, if I hit admin/metadata.xsl instead of admin/metadata, and authenticate with source credentials and the exact same query parameters, it updates successfully, but of course returns a full HTML admin page instead of just the simple xml response. For now I?m having to hit the metadata.xsl page and then probe the resulting HTML for the words metadata update successful instead of being able to do it the intended way as per the example in the documentation. What gives? Also, are there any other valid mode strings besides updinfo? Thanks, Jordan. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:
