I have a problem using a mount with relay and a fallback. The option is not working. I tested two different configurations: _Configuration A:_ ??? ??????? /Stream-096k.mp3 ??????? 2000 ??????? 122880 /Recordings/Record1.mp3 ??????? 1 ??? ??? ??????? xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx ??????? 8080 ??????? /Masterstream-096k.mp3 ??????? /Stream-096k.mp3 ??????? 1 ? ? ?? 1 ??? _Configuration B:_ ??? ??????? /Stream-096k.mp3 ??????? 2000 ??????? 122880 /Stream-Recorded.mp3 ??????? 1 ??? ??? ??????? xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx ??????? 8080 ??????? /Masterstream-096k.mp3 ??????? /Stream-096k.mp3 ??????? 1 ? ? ?? 1 ??? ??? ??????? /Stream-Recorded.mp3 ??????? 2000 ??????? 61440 /Recordings/Record1.mp3 ??????? 1 ? ?? ?? 49152 ??? Problem 1: In both configurations the fallback is played if the relay is offline. But if the stream of the relay is going to online, the listeners are not switched back from the fallback. Even if I wait hours, that does not happen. Currently I still use the older icecast-version 2.3.1 - so pherhals this could be the reason... Problem 2: I also found that (I did not find this option in the dokumentation, why?) does not have any effect, no matter what value I used. Maybe it's because of the older version? (I used limit-rate because the recording is 48k instead of 96k). Kind regards. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... That would be a big disappointment. Shoutcast.com were supporting the DNAS v1 YP updates from Icecast until a few months ago when they stopped it, due to support for Shoutcast v1 being dropped. It wasn't designed to stop Icecast updates but that is now the result. Shoutcast.com is a major director that internet stations need to be on. We have customers complaining why they are not listed any longer. -----Original Message----- From: Icecast [mailto:icecast-bounces at xiph.org] On Behalf Of Marvin Scholz Sent: Sunday, 5 August 2018 7:00 a.m. To: Icecast streaming server user discussions Subject: Re: [Icecast] DNAS v1 YP On 4 Aug 2018, at 16:12, Ross Levis wrote: > I've been told that Icecast streams could be listed on the popular > Shoutcast.com directory if it supported the new DNAS v2 protocol for > YP updates. The Icecast core team have our plate full with items that we want to have as part of our upcoming 2.5 release. So as Marvin pointed out we currently have no plans for this. *IF* there is someone who wants to take the lead on this topic and see *IF* there is a way to get an Radionomy (shoutcast owners) approved solution. I'd recommend to continue this discussion on the icecast-dev at xiph.org mailing list. I am somewhat skeptical, based on how they handled this situation (e.g. nobody contacted us) and the previous track record of denying Icecast listings for many years. I took a brief look at their Wiki and it looks somewhat incomplete regarding listing submission. It only talks about generating "AuthKeys". Proactive communication with all parties involved is the most likely way to lead to a resolution. TBR PS: Please consider configuring your email client for inline quoting. It makes such discussions a lot more readable. Fallback to a file just fills up buffers as fast as it can. Not a good idea at all as Icecast will keep buffering pretty much until it runs out of memory if you're operating a relay. Better to use a local encoder (eg. liquidsoap) which does proper rate limiting. "Note that the fallback file is not timed so be careful if you intend to relay this. It is far easier for us to really help people if we understand their motivation. Personally I've seen probably 70% of user questions for projects that I'm involved in arrive at solutions that were different from the original technical question setting. So while answering a question with a question maybe doesn't feel very nice, I can understand why Marvin did so. My answer would probably have been "Not really, but could you explain?" In your case we'd probably suggest to address this possible use-case in a different way. If you'd be interested in actually solving your issue instead of an answer to one particular technical aspect that is. > Now can you provide an answer to my question? No, we kindly ask you not to attempt to list streams that need authentication of any kind. The directory is intended for freely accessible streams. Also we would prefer if people wouldn't list geo-blocked streams. Currently there are a quite a few and we're working on addressing this. Best regards, Thomas B. Yes, I more or less had it figured out. I figured the cannot accept url updates message was a security measure I was tripping. As of yet, there is no link to share. I want to shoot for a 2019 release to Github though. It?s a scriptable streaming system similar in a way to Liquidsoap, but with an emphasis on being able to be used as a precise station scheduler (so it has functionality like database, date and time manipulation etc built in). There is also a configuration file based station manager which is written in script and built on top of it. It?s coming along swimmingly, but with college starting back up in September I?d say a few more months to polish it up to the point at which I?d be comfortable releasing are in order. I do look forward to public reception though, whenever that day arrives. A couple more outstanding bugs and a couple missing features stand in the way atm. Kind regards, Jordan. > On Aug 8, 2018, at 7:54 AM, Philipp Schafft wrote: > > Good afternoon, > > On Tue, 2018-07-31 at 10:36 -0400, Jordan Verner wrote: >> Hi, >> I am writing a source client (from scratch). > > Mind to share a link with the community? > > >> I?ve got the actual audio streaming part worked out just fine, but the >> metadata has me scratching my head a little bit. > >> According to the docs, to update metadata for an mp3 stream > > Yes. I'm not exactly sure what your problem is. Icecast supports binding to several addresses individually. E.g. this works for me: ::1 2a01:*:*:*:*:*:6453:40a1 Resulting in: Proto Recv-Q Send-Q Local Address Foreign Address State PID/Program name tcp6 0 0 ::1:8000 :::* LISTEN 12043/icecast tcp6 0 0 2a01:*:*:*:*:8000 :::* LISTEN 12043/icecast Maybe you can give us a little bit more context. Though for reasons of security and stability I'd strongly advise against the former two. 2.4.2 and 2.4.3 are equivalent on Linux/Unix and available through all mainstream distributions. In case of Debian use backports. There will be another Beta release very soon?, hopefully including improved CORS support. Please don't ask for/about the KH software here. It's a separate project that has diverged significantly. It happens with different loads. Sometimes with about 2500, others with 3000 and others with about 4200 listeners. Other useful info: we have a hearbeat api that do a "status-json.xsl" request at every 4s. Any ideas?
