   Hi i have a problem 
if a DJ is streaming no one can connect  to the test mount 
my setup is as follows
i have a pc streaming 24 hours a day 7 days a week with mount point autodj
then all the djs are connected using live
then i have another  mount called test
if no one is streaming live then djs can connect to the test mount but if any one is connected live no one can use the test mount
can any one tell me where i am going wrong

if needed)? Could be a few different things.

Hi Mark,

Add extensions to all of your mountpoints for the appropriate audio
codec/format you're using.

For example, <mount-name>/test.opus</mount-name> for an Ogg/Opus stream.

Don't forget to add extensions in the <fallback-mount> sections, too.

I didn't look too closely at your config otherwise, that error was
standing out.

I have several mounts of type=normal, with staticly defined user/password
as well as dynamic authentication via url, e.g.:

		<option name="stream_auth" value="http://my.api/streamAuth"/>
		<option name="auth_header" value="x-is-authenticated: 200 OK" />

this all works fine and stable. BUT when i add 

<mount type="default">
	<authentication type="url">
		<option name="stream_auth" value="http://my.api/streamAuth"/>
		<option name="auth_header" value="x-is-authenticated: 200 OK" />
	</authentication>
</mount>


Icecast crashes on start, not logging anything (loglevel 4).
strace gives me +++ killed by SIGSEGV +++
(see http://pastebin.com/iQefpZbR) 

What's wrong?
Can't type=default coexist with type=normal? It shouldn't crash
anyway...

Which Icecast Version are you using? This sounds like a bug that was 
fixed in recent versions.
2.4 is not exact enough, we need to know the full version number, please

I was wondering if there is a javascript player that uses Media Source Extensions to play Icecast streams on modern browsers.

Based on my limited research, the following players do not seem to support Icecast streams:
Aurora.js - Icecast does not support HEAD requests, which Aurora.js seems to require.
Shaka - Needs DASH manifests, cannot play off a simple URL. IANAL but MPEG LA seems to have issued a call for patents on DASH.

Please do not suggest Flash players.

I'm facing a problem in icecast relay machines. I'm seeing frequently that
some of the relay machines are crashing and generates core dump but the
reason for the crash is not clear from the trace of the core. Here is how
the gdb trace looks like:

I'm trying setting ud icecast with darkice.
but I got an error problem saying no current section.
I've edited and edited, and googled without getting results.

My app is sending utf-8 encoded metadata via the /admin URL interface but
the Icecast web page displays it as ascii.

Playing the stream in Winamp correctly displays Chinese characters.

Is this not supported?

Please have a look at the docs, 
http://icecast.org/docs/icecast-2.4.1/config-file.html#mountsettings

There is the mount specific `charset` option, which you can to use to 
specify the encoding for the
legacy metadata.

I would rather not specify the names of mount points as I use different and random mount names specified at the encoder.  So there is no global method to specify utf-8.  I thought I read that was the default character encoding for Icecast.

I can't hear anything.
I can hear sound from the computer, but not from Another computer when
connecting.
I've got an usb mixer.

I'm using alsa.
What can this be?

yesterday I send you my working configuration (passwords etc changed)
per Email.
You didn't say thank you but that's okay.
You will be so busy in trying to get your configuration running that you
simply forgot it.

Unfortunately I believe that the Icecast Mailing List isn't the right
place to ask the questions you ask,
which is probably the reason you don't get many replies on your topic too.
I'd try a forum or google queries instead.

I have beenup very late and tried with this.
I found the thing now.
In order to record from the soundcard you have to capture it in alsa.
in alsa there is no such Controls. none at all for the behringer mixer.
I'll ask about this on the alsa list too, and then take a break from this.

enter: arecord -l

you should see: card 1: CODEC [USB Audio CODEC], device 0: USB Audio [USB Audio]

that means all is fine so far.

in darkice.cfg, try this for the input section:

your settings for icecast here...


that works, tested it with a line-in source 5 min ago with my 302.
