I've got the icecast2 server set up, and to date have streamed playlists only via ices0 or ices2, now I'm wanting to stream live using winamp. Software wise, I'm needing to use free or open source software, the icecast2 server is a Linux machine, the Winamp will be on either a Win7 or a WinXP machine. I'm also needing to make archives of the stream. Has anyone done this/have any suggestions? Thanks. Dave. Ifyou don't actually need to play music form Winamp but just need to stream a live event from the soundcard, you don't need Winamp at all. You can simply use Edcast stand-alone to do this. If you do need to play music as well, you can use the Winamp plugin version. http://users.tpg.com.au/radiorio/ - you may also need some kind of linein plugin if you need to talk or stream soundcard audio. > Software wise, I'm needing to use free or open source software, the > icecast2 server is a Linux machine, the Winamp will be on either a > Win7 or a WinXP machine. I don't need to play music, just stream the event. From what I understand from my laptop there will be an ethernet cable going out of it, with an RCA jack on the other end, that goes in to either a mixer or soundboard provided by the hotel in question maybe also where the speakers go, I've got a separate microphone going in to the laptop. I'll check out edcast and write if I have any more questions, also that winamp plugin returned a 404 error. Thanks. Dave. I'm streaming to it with winamp and the edcast plugin my thanks to everyone who helped me get that going. An aside is it possible to use a compressor plugin like audiostocker on an outbound stream going through edcast? I've googled that this is possible with winamp and shoutcast servers but not seeing how to run two dsp plugins to an icecast server. I'd like to send out two streams, same content in each one for broadband DSL, cable, etc. users, the other for modem users, i'm going to say no modem below a 56k just to make my life easier. Do I have to enable separate stream configurations in icecast or can I get this all with one stream? Finally, wondering if it's possible to insert or play a file mp3 or ogg on user connect like a stream introduction and possibly on user disconnect? Thanks. Dave. I might be wrong, but I doubt you can have a file play on disconnect. That would be like trying to say 'goodbye' to someone who has already hung up the phone. Hope that helps!
