Presupposing linux--- I assume these appear as v4l/v4l2 devices, in which case, yes, people have done live AV streaming this way. I also do live AV steaming with icecast, though I'm using firewire devices through gstreamer. (Obviously the OS comes into play here a bit also, but forget that for a moment I am just focussing on the NIC card its self at the minute). So how do people calculate how many servers or NIC cards per server they will need to handle this many connections? If icecast can't set up a mountpoint and can't find where the file location for it is the server will always error.
