A couple of resources of interest. Oddsock has a Winamp Media LIbrary plugin for listing available stations at http://www.oddsock.org/tools/ml_icecastlist He usually makes sources available but I don't see any source links. Maybe it's in the .exe file? Anyway the sources may give you a clue. A better place to get a clue might be the code for the YP server itself. I don't recall ever seeing any releases, but you can get the code from http://svn.xiph.org/trunk/icecast2yp/ And now that I read the ReadMe there, I see that the URL you want is http://dir.xiph.org/yp.xml Geoff. -- From dlezama at interactiveni.com Mon Jan 14 16:54:03 2008 From: dlezama at interactiveni.com (=?iso-8859-1?Q?Dami=E1n_Lezama?=) Date: Mon, 14 Jan 2008 14:54:03 -0200 Subject: [Icecast] Where can I get a downloadable stream directory? You didn't say which operating system you are using and which audio format you want to stream in. For Windows, I'd recommend the stand-alone edition of Oddcast (see www.oddsock.org). It will do Ogg Vorbis out of the box, and MP3 and AAC if you get the relevant DLLs which is a fairly trivial thing to do. If using Linux or some other *nix operating systems, Darkice (http://darkice.sourceforge.net) can do this, again in both Ogg Vorbis and MP3. Ices 2.x can also do this, in Ogg Vorbis only. Ices 0.x does MP3 but does *not* have soundcard input, so will not suit your purposes. Hope this helps, Geoff. Message-ID: <479916D4.6080105@gulfbridge.net> We're running a darkice/icecast configuration to stream our LPFM radio station (and to provide a quick-n-dirty studio-transmitter-link). (See config data below.) We're getting intermittent "Buffer overrun!" errors out of darkice, and we associate these with interruptions in our audio stream that are quite noticeable. These occur anywhere from once to ten times per hour. I've moved the darkice server 30 miles to a completely different node and LAN configuration to rule out local network problems. I've maxed the scheduling priority on both darkice and icecast. I've upped the bufferSecs to 60. None of this has helped. I'd appreciate any suggestions (or pointers to a how-to) on how to troubleshoot this. I'm assuming something is interrupting the internet connection between our local darkice server and the remote icecast server (on serverbeach.com). Of course, it would be best to find the root cause of this and correct it. But short of that, I would think that we could tweak our configuration to increase the buffering on both sides to compensate for this. But there is precious documentation on how to do this. (It appears that icecast does no buffering whatsoever. Is that correct?) Since icecast streaming is http-based and since http is tcp-based, I would think the tcp parameters would be important here. In particular, there is a tcp window size that would seem to be relevant to assuring a smooth stream. But I don't see anything about this in relationship to icecast streaming. Again, I'd appreciate any suggestions (or pointers to a how-to) on how to troubleshoot this. Without this I can go up to 5000 clients without problems. Changing the number of threadpool does'nt change anything. here is the term log: stream-04:/etc/icecast2# icecast2 -c /etc/icecast2/icecast.xml Changed groupid to 105. Changed userid to 102. Here is my config files general options: 8192 1024 128 524288 1 15 60 no 65536 And my mountpoints are all defined like this: 10000 10.10.30.49 9036 / /XXX/all/XXX-32k.mp3 0 1 1 The relaying source server is a shoutcast. I don't think this is a file descriptor limitation as I can have more than 5000 clients and 65536 open fd.
