it was no problem to saturate an 10MBit link with an PII-266 and almost 
no sysload. ppl here on the list had virtually thousands of sessions of 
"wget -o /dev/null http://localhost:8000/somestream.ogg" running without 
noticeable sysload.

its simply pushing packets around. nothing spectacular.

as pointed out _very_ often: the really cpu expensive part is reencoding.
