If installing from source, yes, but you'll have to make sure the resulting 
binaries either aren't in the same place or have different names.  If 
installing from a package, it depends whether the package maintainers have 
made certain that they won't clash with each other.  For example, I think 
the packages in Debian call Ices 2.x ices2.
