hmmm, can't see anything obvious here, though the message suggests that it 
might not be Ices itself that's causing the problem.  Do other sound aps 
work?

The only thing that might contribute is the 11000 Hz sample rate.  This is 
a bit unusual and might break the resampler (don't know). Why not try 11025 
Hz which is more standard?
