[icecast] Building Linux Audio Streaming server

Hello...

I'm building a Linux audio streaming server using icecast 2. I've installed
all necessary packages (including icecast, ices, libshout, Ogg Vorbis
libraries, and other libraries required by icecast).

The problem i'm getting is that after running the server, and try command
netstat -n(to check network status), the port 8000 is not opened (while it
expected to be opened). What are the possible causes of that error? Can it
be caused by the way i've configured icecast.xml and ices.xml?

Please, i need an advice there.
