the old 22khz mono vs 11khz stereo debate is one that won't be resolved
easily.  However, 22khz quality -1, which in my experience tends to come
out at around 22-24kbps, is accessible to 28.8/33.6kbps modems, whereas a
30kbps stream of any sort really isn't.
