I wrote perl wrappers and python wrappers for the original.  If you
asked I'd probably make new python ones.

And you think that not knowing or liking C that you still ahve the
skills to write a replacement?  So far I've found that little works for
the timing besides C.  And the timing code is the most important part,
which was the reason I created the library in the first place.

Nonsense.  If you're platform is MacOS 9, I might accept this excuse :)

What license would your prefer?  Why doesn't the LGPL do what you want?
