Yes indeed. I don't know enough in this area to be of good help though...

For starters, we could place the doc somewhere (FOMS wiki?), so it can be modified, extended and solidified. Next, a testsuite for both M3U8 and the JS API shouldn't be too hard.

A proof of concept would also be great, in either a Mozilla ;) or Webkit build? I can build some JS around it to visualize the switching process, like in Flash [1].
