FLAC 1.0.2 definitely works OK on alpha.  I am currently running a make
check on this system:

cpu                     : Alpha
cpu model               : PCA56
cpu variation           : 0
cpu revision            : 0
cpu serial number       : Linux_is_Great!
system type             : EB164
system variation        : SX164
system revision         : 0

it has not completed, but has succeeded at everything it has attempted so
far.  I have not tried the 1.0.3 pre-release yet.
