The problem was twofold:

1. sourceforge is now blocking mail where there is no MX for the envelope
sender.  Since I don't receive at this system, the default envelope sender has
no MX record.  For now, I'm masquerading it to one of the domains where I
receive mail.

2. I didn't get any bounce messages, because they go to the envelope sender.

This was arguably a long-standing brokeness on my system, but it would be nice
if sourceforge would announce these kinds of changes so that folks like me
don't have to spend time tracking down the issue.
