[daala] AV1 and the future of Daala

Hello,

I recently read about the new AV1 initiative from Microsoft, Google, Apple,
Mozilla....
for a royalty free codec based on VP10 and incorporating parts of Daala and
Thor codecs. How will this new codec affect work on Daala?  Will Daala be
superceded by AV1, or will work continue in the future ?
