We have certainly been investigating putting the ISRC into
watermarks.

IFPI does not endorse or recommend any one particular technology for
watermarking. In tests that have been carried out - although I was
not involved, I believe that SDMI watermarks do not affect the audio
quality.

Trusting this has been of use.

Thanks for your swift reply!

I understand from your site that the ISRC code is designed to be
watermarked into the audio file, rather than simply assigned as a
label. This is presumably designed to stop third parties from
changing the ISRC.

Which tools does the IFPI recommend for making the watermarks? Are
the watermarks designed as part of the SDMI system? Do they (subtly)
affect audio quality?

Sorry to ask so many questions!

Daniel James
