Web Techniques has a well-written, two-full-page article by Charlie Cho
about Ogg Vorbis in its February 2002 issue. It discusses proprietary
technology, patents, briefly explains the features of Ogg and Vorbis,
licensing ("without the communitarian obligations of the GPL"), sound
quality evaluations, and potential markets for compressed digital audio.
