Quicktime can only be played on Linux with the proprietary CrossOver
plugin from Code Weavers. Apple's choice of a BSD kernel rather than
a Linux kernel for OS X tells you all you need to know about their
position on 'intellectual property' - ie what's yours is mine, and
what's mine is mine.
